Responsibilities

 

 

Conducts examinations of applicants for blaster’s certificate of competence

 

 

Makes recommendations to the Commissioner of Labor with respect to experience and competence of such applicants.

 

 

Holds hearings regarding appeals following denials of certificates.

 

 

Holds hearings prior to determination by the Commissioner to suspend or revoke certificates, or to refuse to issue renewal of certificates.

 

 

Reports findings and recommendations to the Commissioner with respect to such hearings.

Membership Structure

 

 

Three members appointed by the Commissioner of Labor. At least one shall be a blaster who holds a valid certificate of competence and at least one other member shall be a representative of explosives manufacturers

Responsibilities

 

 

Conducts examinations of those persons who inspect boilers as employees of insurance companies licensed to write boiler insurance in New York State.

Membership Structure

 

 

Four members: one representive of a boiler manufacturer, one representative of an insurance company, one representative of boiler operators, and one representative of the Department of Labor Boiler Safety Bureau. The members are appointed by the Comissioner of Labor

Receives, reviews, and acts upon applications for funding of capital projects designed to abate occupational safety and health hazards which have been found by the Commissioner of Labor to violate Section 27-a of the Labor Law.

 

 

Receives, reviews, and acts upon applications for occupational safety and health training and education grants pursuant to Article 29 of the Labor Law.

 

 

Recommends for adoption occupational safety and health standards protecting public sector employees to the Commissioner of

Five members appointed by the Governor; one shall be recommended by the Temporary President of the Senate, one recommended by the Speaker of the Assembly and one recommended by the State Comptroller. Responsibilities

 

 

Advises the Commissioner of Labor in relation to rules and regulations for the prevention of personal injuries in the use of ski tows, other passenger tramways and downhill ski areas.

Membership Structure

 

 

Seven members appointed by the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate for a five year term or until a successor is appointed. The Governor designates one of the members to serve as chairperson. Four members shall be an officer or an employee of a privately operated ski center, and three members shall be representatives of the public..
